Does the AI Act apply to a company that only uses AI?
Yes. The Act gives duties to deployers, the companies that use AI systems, as well as to providers who build them. For most everyday tools those duties are light. For uses such as hiring or credit checks they are substantial, from 2 December 2027.
Is this legal advice?
No. The Monitor records your company's own decisions and shows the rule each one relied on. For anything high-risk you can ask for a fixed-fee review by a qualified adviser.
Does AI decide the risk tier?
No. The tier comes from a fixed rules catalogue that cites the article behind every rule. AI is only used, if you switch it on, to help redraft documents, and a named person approves every one.
Why do you check who signs up?
Because an evidence file is only worth something if the company behind it is real. We confirm your e-mail and, where you give one, your VAT or company number against the public register.
What happens after the free trial?
You choose a plan and pay online, or the ledger turns read-only. Nothing is deleted and you can pay at any time to carry on.
Can we use it for a UK company?
Yes. The AI Act applies to UK companies that place AI on the EU market or whose AI output is used in the EU. UK companies can sign up with their Companies House number.
What does Monitor Scan collect from our computers?
Only matches: the name of each AI tool it finds and where it was found, with the computer's name (you can hide names) and system version. It never sends your other apps, the other websites people visit, or anything inside files. It shows every result and asks before sending, installs nothing and removes itself after the run.
Where is our data kept?
On servers in the EU, run by Soundcheck Software Ltd. Statement files are scanned and not stored. See security and data.
What changed with the Digital Omnibus?
The Council approved it on 29 June 2026. High-risk duties for stand-alone systems moved to 2 December 2027 and for AI inside regulated products to 2 August 2028. The transparency rules still applied from 2 August 2026. The AI Act guide has the details.
